Vertical Smile Trail

The site of a previous downhill race, this trail is not for novices. Bring spares.

Trail Head Access :

To reach the southern end, start at the bridge in Christina Lake. Head northeast on hwy #3 for 0.2 km to Santa Rosa road, turn right and follow for 23.5 km to a cattleguard and road junction. The trailhead is located on left just after cattleguard and is marked. Park well to the side.

The northern end is harder to find. Starting at the bridge in Christina Lake, drive northeast on hwy #3 for 31 km to the Bonanza gravel pit on the right. Turn right and drive through the pit. Take the first right and follow for 2km to junction; turn left. Drive for 1 km and turn left. At the next junction at the top of the hill, turn left. At the next junction, stay right and continue on main road. From here the road gets tougher with frequent waterbars. Continue to the last junction, turn right. Park in the old log landing and look for the trail marker.
