From the north end of the lake, head south on hwy #3 to Santa Rosa Rd,, follow 1 km to the first switchback. Take the small road on the right just before the switchback (it turns to the left, following the Santa Rosa). This takes you to the railgrade. Follow the grade to the long trestle over the Kettle river and then cross the highway. After another 500m on the railgrade, look for small cement bridge on right, park your bikes and follow trail down the gorge and to the falls. This is a steep trail with loose rock in places.and not suitable for small children or those who have diffficulty climbing over rocks. Rainbow Rock is best appreciated in mid-day sun with a picnic basket. Rejoin the railgrade, following over the next trestle. Look for a trail/road shortly afterwards on the right, taking you back to highway #3. Turn right and follow the highway until you reach Thompson Rd. (on the left). Follow Thompson Rd. back down to Westlake Drive, turn Right and follow to Highway 3.
Please read our disclaimer before using any trails.
