Lake Living - Organizations
Volunteer Organizations
Kootenay Robusters Dragon Boat Team
We are a team with approximately 100 members, consisting of breast cancer
survivors and associates. Paddlers from Trail, Rossland, Castlegar, Grand
Forks and Christina Lake practice three times a week on the lake, promoting
breast cancer awareness. Our mission is to help people living with breast
cancer understand that they can lead full, active lives while recovering
from the physical limitations of the disease. New members are welcomed;
age and physical abilities are not an issue.
The Moody Quilters
The Moody Quilters meet every Tuesday evening at 9pm at Moody Creek Estates
clubhouse. We work on charity quilts and raffle quilts and, of course,
quilts for our own use. We have an annual "Christmas in July"
sale the third Saturday in July, which attracts crafters of all kinds
from all over the Boundary. We also have a "Show & Tell Tea"
for the community every other year in May.
Seniors
Seniors meet the first Tuesday of each month at 1:30 at the Community
Hall. They have a light luncheon, conversation, carpet bowling, cards
and bingo. Interesting guest speakers from the area may also be present.
For more info call Leola at 447 9146.
Health Care Auxiliary
The Health Care Auxiliary meets the fourth Monday of each month at
1:30 at the Community Hall. We work on two major fundraisers. The Giant
Garage Sale & Bake Sale is the second week in July, we also have a
Tea & Bake Sale the first week in November. All proceeds go to health
care agencies in the Grand Forks and Christina Lake area.
