Christina Lake is a diverse community.  Some families have been here for generations, others have moved here after vacationing on our shores, still others have relocated here from cities across Canada and the US to enjoy the peaceful lifestyle.  The community has a vibrant history, and area residents and the Chamber of Commerce are actively shaping our present and future through participation in local and regional organizations and activities. The following is a brief overview of some of our community's features.

Population: 1200 year round residents, and approximately 6000 in summer. 

Location: Christina Lake is located about half way between the west coast and Alberta in beautiful Boundary Country, just east of the junction of Hwy. #395 and Hwy. #3 (crowsnest).

Spokane is 2.5 hours south of Christina Lake on highway 395, and Calgary and Vancouver are 8 and 7 hours by car respectively.  Castlegar airport is a 45 minute drive east.

Weather: Christina Lake enjoys warm dry summers and relatively mild winters.  The average winter temperature range is from -8 to -2 degrees Celsius.  In the summer the temperature ranges from 18 to 30 degrees Celsius, with mid summer temperatures often reaching well into the 30's. 

The average yearly rainfall is 42cm. Southern valleys enjoy an average of over 2000 hours of sunshine annually. Yearly snowfall averages 44cm.  The water temperature of Christina Lake averages 22 degrees Celsius in the summer making it the warmest tree-lined lake in B.C!  Click here to see current weather conditions in Castlegar.

Schools: Christina Lake Elementary School, considered one of BC's finest. With its small class sizes and dedicated staff, C.L.E.S offers an excellent academic program rounded out Photo by Don Lyon / Galena Photo with exciting art, drama and athletics programs. Fire
The area is served by a volunteer fire department located in Christina Lake.

Medical
Christina Lake has a brand new medical clinic located along Highway #3. The hospital, complete with extended care facility, is situated in nearby Grand Forks. A short twenty minute drive away.

Police
The area police station is located in Grand Forks.
